Anacortes, Deception Pass Bridge, and Whidbey Island

After the swim meet, we took the scenic way home because it turned out to be such a beautiful day. We drove through Washington Park just west of Anacortes. We went out on a bluff that overlooks the sound and the San Juan Islands, there were dolphin's playing below us, and the snow capped mountains were quite visible. We drove south towards Whidbey Island overlooking the sound most of the way. We crossed Deception Pass Bridge. It’s a double channel that connects Skagit Bay with the Strait of Juan de Fuca - it has a really strong current flowing through this narrow channel. Even large boats line up waiting for slack tide make the crossing. We drove the length of Whidbey Island enjoying the rolling hills, ocean and bay views the entire way to the southern tip. We then took the ferry to Mukilteo and then headed home. It was a postcard day.
