Catherine's Girl Scout meeting & Carolines Tooth

Catherine was invested as a girl scout Monday night along with several friends. She knows the Scout law, and got 2 badges! Caroline and I wandered around the halls a bit taking pictures. She lost another tooth! and the tooth fairy gave her $6.50 - apparent the tooth fairy does not see well in the dark.

Catherine's pictures

Catherine loves to take pictures, here are a few she took of the animals, and a self portrait.

Lazy Thanksgiving Weekend

We had a really nice Thanksgiving - but I forgot to take pictures. We had the Lore's and a friend from work over. Debbie made a wonderful traditional Thanksgiving dinner - We were stuffed! Friday we took it easy, its been below freezing all day long. We walked to the lake, and the took a drive to DC to look around. The girls started getting cold so we headed home.

Misunderestimating the weather!

The weather report said flurries maybe! But its turned into more of a heavy dusting. It's nice to look at but I think its going to really messup Thanksgiving traffic. It will melt when the sun comes out tomorrow, but its way more than they expected.

Children's Thanksgiving Service

Catherine's class put on the Thanksgiving service. Debbie helped lead it, Caroline and I attended. Catherine narrated the parable of the Loaves and Fishes - she did very well. It was held in the old 'White Church' it dates back before the Civil War. The Yankees burned it down and it was rebuilt on the same location.

More Gingerbread houses

There has been allot of baking going on lately - the house smells like a bakery. Catherine and Alise decorated some houses that Debbie built. They did a really nice job.

Girls Scout Gingerbread houses

I came home to a house of about 20 girls scouts learning to make ginger bread houses. Debbie had baked them for the last two days. They came out really well. Catherine took almost all of the pictures in this set (except for the blurry one, that was mine).

My new TV

I finally finished my TV project. I wanted a big tv, and we finally realized that the only way it would work in this room is if we put it on the fireplace. So I had to build the molding across the top, to hide all the wires, put in some side lights for the new shelves, and finally attach the tv mounting bracket to the fire place, and hang the TV. Now I'm ready for the winter.

Nice day to walk the Mall

Caroline and I spent the afternoon on the Capital mall. We Started by the Capital and walked all the way down to the WWII memorial. We stopped into the Natural History museum and the Air and Space museum. Space Ship One is on exhibit now right next to the Spirit of St. Louis. We saw where habitat for humanity is building houses for the gulf coast. I checked on the map after we got home, we walked about 4 miles! It was a gerogous day, every one was out enjoying it.

Fall Outing

It was a clear warn day so we decided to spend the afternoon at Occoquan VA (just a few miles south of the beltway). We happened on to a really nice county park right along the Occoquan river were we saw a beaver, and took a few pictures. Then we went into Occoquan's historic district to walk around and have dinner. It was a nice day.

Halloween

The girl's scout troup was in the Annandale halloween parade. Catherine and Debbie walked the entire way, Caroline and I joined for the last part of the walk since it was cold and windy. They girls had a good time.

We carved our pumpkin and went trick-or-treating. Both girls had a personal best - caroline did about 15 houses and was done. Catherine and I walked till we were worn out I think she did 40+ houses. We have way too much candy!

Liturgical Dance

Caroline Liturgical Dance group performed in chruch the other day. Debbie got drafted to be part of it. It was very well done, and she really enjoyed it.
