Trip to Victoria

We went to Victoria for the day while Elinor was visiting. We left early in the morning and took the car ferry out of Anacortes that goes to Sidney BC. It was a beautiful day to be on the water. The route goes through the San Juan’s islands to Vancouver Island. We cleared customs quickly and drove to Victoria. Victoria is the seat of government for British Columbia. It seems kind of odd to me to put the territorial capital on an island, but it’s a beautiful place and it was at one time a big port. It was a warm day back in Seattle, but Victoria was very pleasant. We took a carriage ride to see the city; we had a really interesting driver who pointed out a lot of detail all around the town. After lunch and more site seeing we headed back on the ferry. As we were leaving the ferry terminal we saw a tug boat with a huge log raft. I would not want to cross it at night. The ferry made one stop at Friday Harbor – it was very pretty we want to go back in the boat. Elinor was amazed how cool it got on the water – standing on the ferry deck it was down right cold. We had a beautiful sunset and moon rise.
