Halloween

Sunday was a nice day so we went to the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. Its a very nice zoo, it reminds us a lot of the DC Zoo which is also called Woodland Park. It was decorated for Halloween which made it even more festive. While we were watching the apes, one ran by the glass and slapped right where Caroline was standing and then starting making faces - she was not amused.

The other pictures are from Trick or Treet in our Neighborhood. Once again I dressed in a black cape and spooked people as they came up our walk way. Caroline did about 10 houses, and Catherine went all around the block with friends.

Spamalot

We took the kids to see Spamalot at the Paramount Theater, in downtown Seattle. Spamalot is a stage addaptation of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It was a riot, the kids like the music and the overall sillyness. I heard Caroline singing the theme song the next day. Catherine definately got the "grail" part of the story. These pictures are from my camera phone so they are not very good.

Slamon Run

The Slamon run continues. Here are several video's taken on Bear creek. It borders on the west edge of our neighborhood. It flows all the way down to Redmond.

We parked here at Classic Nursery, it has a path to the creek.

South 47 Corn Maze

After the Wave swim-a-thon we had dinner with Morgan’s family and then went to the corn maze in a farm that’s nearby in the Sammamish river valley. Mark and I spent most of the time running around trying to scare the girls as they tried to find all 10 clues in the maze. We employed a combination of throwing corn, jumping out of the rows, and blood curling screams! I think the girls enjoyed it. It was a clear cool night, perfect October weather.

Molbaks and around Woodinville

Caroline and I went to Molbaks to see their 25 annual performance of the Big Bad Wolf. It was a really cute production; the whole shop was decorated for Halloween so we took a couple of pictures. While we were out we dropped by Chateau St. Michele, and made a stop to see some salmon.

Video Camera

I got a small video camera so I can upload stuff to the web. I pulled it out at swim practice to play with it. Thats Catherine and Morgan in the first lane. I'll get better with some practice. Click the play button.

Swimming and Issaquah Salmon festival

Catherine swam at a meet in Renton (south of Seattle), her form was great but the pool was slow. She has several strong heats, including a relay. While she was swimming Caroline and I went for breakfast, and then went shopping at Fry’s electronics. It’s a giant electronics store near by. After the meet we went to the town of Issaquah for their Salmon Festival - it was a huge street fair. The Issaquah fish hatchery is adjacent to the fair, and was open for tours. Issaquah creek is full of spawning salmon, and runs right into the hatchery where a 4 foot dam goes across the creek. We watched as large salmon (30+ pounds) tried to make it over the dam – you’d hear smack, smack, smack as they tried and slammed into it. Eventually they would find the diverter to the fish ladder and continue their journey around the dam up stream to spawn. While we were in Issaquah, we stopped at the XXX Drive in – YUM they make their own root beer, and their burgers were excellent. I have to go back there with an appetite. It was a really large fair, even the nudists had a booth! check out their banner.
