Defending the caveman

Debbie and I saw Defending the Caveman at the Spectrum in Arlington. It was a riot, we laughed the whole time. He's fairly insightful on the difference between women and men. It was perfect for our 11'th anniversary. I took this with my camera phone before I read the part about no photography :-) It was too dark once he came out on stage anyhow.

Cherry Blossom Festival - Smithsonian Kite Festival

The kite festival kicks off the opening of the Cherry Blossom festival on the National Mall. As usual, the bossoms aren't open yet along the tidal basin, and it kinda cold. We had a good time any how; Caroline and Catherine both made kites and it was amazin to see how well paper, sticks and string can fly!

Kite Festival

Caroline and I went to the kite festival today. Catherine was out at a Choir camp in Manassas. It was a nice day to be outside, and windy enough for kite flying. We saw kite fighting, a lot of specialty kites, and we saw a model of the wright flyer built by the curator of the real wirght flyer now on exhibit in the air and space museum.

St Patricks Day Parade in DC

Caroline and I went to DC on sunday to watch the St. Patrick's day parade. While we were there we also went through (very quickly) the Cezanne Exhibit at the National Gallery. My camera battery gave out so not many pictures. It was a nice day, and we walked about 4 miles. The parade was nice, but no Mardi Gras.

Caroline on her stump

Caroline loves being outside. It was cold last week but she had to be outside playing. Lately she has been picking red holly berries. She was wearning the red hat that Grammie Jan knitted.

Mardi Gras in Lafayette

We went to Lafayette to visit Mom and Dad, and to celebrate Mardi Gras. We arrived with Caroline and Debbie really sick - but it didn't keep us from having a good time. We went to a parade, the kids went to the zoo, and we went to the Krewe of Triton Ball. Our guests were Laurie & Russ, Dionne & Mike, and Melinda & Thomas. Of course my parents and their friends were there also. We had a really nice time. Sunday we took the kids to Vermillionville (Old style Acadian Village) where there was a Courier de Mardi Gras where they got to "run" the old style Mardi Gras. By the time we got home - every one was feeling better. We really enjoyed our trip. Click on the picture to see the album.
