Inaugural Parade - GWB

Catherine and I went to the Inaugural Parade for GWB of his second term. The place was shoulder to shoulder with cops, and lined with soldiers every 10 feet. We had to go through a security checkpoint – it was longer leaving than getting in. We were interviewed by CBN – we didn’t say much. We had a great spot right on the hill of freedom plaza. But then they made us clear the hill - it’s where the snowman is standing. I think they were afraid of snowballs. Then we got right up to the front line. There was a command post of some sort right on top of the hotel just down the block. We saw several bus and car loads of VIPs. Then the president's limo drove right by - we could see him waving! The crowd was fairly well behaved, there were some protesters behind us - but they didn't have much spirit; I think they were bored college kids. We saw one guy running away from the cops outside of the secure area - he was tackled by about 5 officers while about 30 others looked on - not the day to mess with the cops. It was a cold day, but fun to be a part of.

Caroline's Princess Party

Caroline had a Princess party to celebrate her 7'th birthday (a few days after the real date). Every one dressed up, played games, decorated their wands, and had a good time.

Visit to the Mall

We finally got to see the Nation American Indian Museum this weekend. The building is really nice; It has a huge 5 story atrium, it must take up half of the building. Its an interesting museum, its very much about the people and not the artifacts - although there are some. Its interesting, but I didn't find it as engaging as the other museums. From the entry way its got a good view of the capitol, which is being done up for the inauguration.

Then we stopped by the American History Museum so Debbie could see Julia Child's kitchen, and i got to check out the 'Price of Freedom' exhibit -it is excellent.

Christmas Pictures

Elves

Hi, here are a few pictures from the Christmas pageant, Christmas party at Army Navy Country Club, Christmas Eve service where the girls sang, Catherine chimed, Catherine lit the advent candle, and did the prayer - she was busy. Then a few birthday pictures, and Christmas day. I'm trying out this new service to see if i like it. You can add comments right here if you like.
